Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has received the coronavirus vaccine as the first inoculations will begin this week.

Mr. Morrison said the whole speaking before his vaccination, “Tomorrow our vaccination programme starts, so as a curtain-raiser today we’re here making some very important points; that it’s safe, that it’s important, and we need to start with those who are most vulnerable and are on the front line.”

As per the details, his vaccination was televised on Sunday to encourage vaccine rollout across Australia. At least 60,000 doses are likely to be given next week.

The first person to receive the vaccine was 85-year-old Jane Malysiak.

However, some people gathered to protest against the launch. 

Pfizer vaccine was granted approval for use. It will be the first vaccination in Australia.

Morrison was among those vaccinated on Sunday along with some frontline health workers and care home residents. Chief Nurse Professor Alison McMillan and Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly were also given the doses.

Australia’s medical regulator earlier this week gave provincial approval for the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. Health Minister Greg Hunt says he will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine in the coming weeks.
