Three women connected to a local radio and TV station have been killed in various attacks in eastern Afghanistan.

According to reports of foreign news agencies, Shokrullah Pasoon, of Enikass Radio and TV in Jalalabad said that one of the women among the deceased was returning home when gunmen opened fire on her.

He said two other women, Shahnaz and Sadia, were killed in the second shooting.

Two passersby were also injured in the incident.

Shokrullah said the three women had dubbed several Turkish and Indian dramas in Afghanistan’s local languages, Dari and Pashto.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied involvement in the attacks.

On the other hand, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in his statement condemned the attacks, saying that attacks on innocent people, especially women, are against Islamic teachings, the country’s culture and the spirit of peace.

Afghanistan is one of the most dangerous countries for media workers, with 15 killed in the past six months.

It should be noted that since the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban in February 2020, the number of targeted killings in Afghanistan has increased.

The Taliban has denied involvement in most of the targeted killings, but both the Afghan government and the Taliban have accused each other of carrying out attacks to undermine the peace deal.
