Police suspect a man found dead in a Glasgow street was the victim of an attack. Craig Watson, 39, was discovered severely injured just after midnight on Sunday at Whitevale Gardens, Dennistoun. Emergency personnel responded to the location, but he died shortly thereafter.

Police are considering his death as “unexplained” and are conducting an investigation to determine the precise reason.

Det Ch Insp Cameron Miller appealed to local neighbors for assistance.

“While investigations into the specific cause of Mr Watson’s death are ongoing, we suspect that he was assaulted during an incident with a number of individuals in the Whitevale Gardens area soon before he was discovered wounded,” he added.

Whitevale Gardens is a residential neighborhood, and I’m sure residents saw or heard something, and I’d encourage them to come forward if they haven’t already.”

He stated that a large number of young individuals were in the vicinity prior to and following midnight.

“It is critical that these young individuals contact the police and offer any information that may aid our investigation,” Det Ch Insp Miller added.
