Missing couple found shot to death on walking trail
After several days of searching, a missing Concord couple was found shot to death on a remote walking trail. Stephen Reid, 67, and Djeswende Reid, 66, were last seen leaving for a walk at 2:22 p.m. on Monday.
This couple was found dead Thursday night on the Broken Ground Trails. On Friday, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg announced their deaths. The deaths were ruled homicides.
Police said they do not have a suspect or motive in the killings and the investigation is ongoing.
The couple had no weapons and no history of domestic violence, police said. Authorities say the couple regularly walked on the trails near their apartment where they died.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the Reids’ disappearance or deaths should contact the Concord Police Department, said Senior Assistant Attorney General Geoffrey Ward at a press conference Friday.
The AG’s office has also asked anyone with security cameras near the walking trails to provide video to authorities.
Stephen Reid was reported missing after he failed to show up for his weekly tennis match on Wednesday.
