NATO ‘pouring oil on the fire’ by delivering weaponry, Russia’s foreign ministry

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, weaponry supplied by Western countries “will be a legitimate target,” and Russian forces have already targeted munitions facilities in western Ukraine.

“Everyone is reciting incantations that we cannot allow World War III,” Lavrov stated in an extensive interview on Russian television. He accused Ukrainian officials of inciting Russia by requesting NATO intervention in the war.

NATO forces are “pouring oil on the fire” by sending weaponry, Putin claimed, according to a transcript on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website.

Regarding the possibility of a nuclear confrontation, Lavrov said: “I would not want to see these risks artificially inflated now when the risks are rather significant.”

“The danger is serious,” he said. “It is real. It should not be underestimated.
