According to the press office of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Moscow’s threat came after the Armed Forces of Ukraine liquidated a mobile command post along with the commanders of the 4th Battalion Tactical Group (operational subordination) of Russia’s Central Military District’s 201st Military Base.

“In one of the operations zones, a unit of the Ukrainian Army’s Assault Troops, along with their comrades-in-arms representing other components of the country’s defence forces, destroyed a column of the Russian occupiers’ military equipment,” it said in a statement.

“This contains a mobile control point as well as the commanding staff of the 4th Battalion Tactical Group (operational subordination) of the 201st Military Base of the Russian Federation’s Central Military District.”

It continued, saying: “We shall succeed as a team! Ukraine, bravo!”

A day earlier, battlegroup K-2 of the Ukrainian Ground Forces’ 54th Mechanized Brigade claimed to have destroyed a row of tanks on a rural road in the eastern Ukrainian area of Donetsk Oblast.

According to Ukrainian media, the Azov Regiment had destroyed two more Russian tanks the previous week.

According to local media, Russia has lost 19,800 servicemen, 739 main battle tanks, 1,964 armoured combat vehicles, 358 artillery systems, 115 MLR systems, 64 air defence units, 158 warplanes, 143 helicopters, 1,429 military trucks, seven vessels, 76 fuel tanks, 132 unmanned aerial vehicles, 25 units of special equipment, and four missile launchers.

Moscow’s belligerent reaction to “Ukrainian soldiers’ attempts to carry out sabotage and hit Russian territory” echoed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest public statements on the war.

According to the government, “if such situations persist, Russian armed forces would hit decision-making centres, including in Kyiv.”

On Tuesday, Putin said that peace talks with Ukraine had come to an end.

He went on to promise that his troops would achieve their “noble” goals and, in the strongest indication yet that the conflict will last longer than expected, said Kyiv had derailed peace talks by staging what he called bogus claims of Russian war crimes and demanding security guarantees covering the entire country.
