According to Ukraine’s deputy agricultural minister, Russian soldiers have taken “several hundred thousand tonnes” of grain from the territories they control in Ukraine.

Taras Vysotskiy, speaking on Ukrainian state television, expressed concern that Russian soldiers might steal the majority of the 1.5 million tonnes of grain held in a controlled area.

On Thursday, Ukraine’s foreign ministry accused Russia of taking grain from land it has controlled, a move it claimed raised the threat to global food security.
