The US stated it is talking to India about Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, and that the conversations would continue at the Quad Summit in Japan next month.
According to news agency PTI, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the US and India had undertaken repeated talks about how to support Ukrainians throughout the conflict, including discussions on sanctions and assistance.
“We have had a number of engagements, as you know, with leaders in India about our approach to supporting the Ukrainians in this war, whether that is sanctions and the enormous sanctions package we’ve put in place or, of course, the assistance we’ve provided. We will convey the same sentiments in this meeting, “When asked how the topic of the Ukraine war will be tackled during the Quad summit, Psaki informed reporters.
Other Quad members, Psaki added, have “also been essential collaborators and allies in the Ukrainians’ struggle to battle the war.”
The Quad, which consists of the US, Australia, Japan, and India, has recommended May 24 as the date for a meeting.
The meeting takes place during US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Japan.
“US President Biden will visit Japan on May 22-24. As part of the visit, he is going to meet Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on May 23, and take part in the summit of the Quad nations’ leaders on May 24,” Hirokazu Matsuno, Japan’s chief cabinet secretary, stated on Thursday.
