According to the leader of the region’s military, Russian forces planted land mines in the Kharkiv regions they captured.
“The enemy mined everything,” Oleh Sinegubiv claimed in a Telegram message. He cautioned civilians against returning to places where the Russian troops had recently been ejected; warning that schools, kindergartens, and private residences had been mined. He said teams were demining the area and restoring key infrastructure such as gas and power.
In recent days, Ukrainian forces have forced Russian troops out of regions they had taken early in the battle, reclaiming numerous towns in the Kharkiv region.
