A former Wakefield special constable has received a 12-month suspended jail term for possessing thousands of obscene pictures of children.
At a March hearing, Jack Mallinson, 26, of Wakefield, pled guilty to five charges of creating and having indecent photos of minors.
He also acknowledged posting obscene texts after fantasizing about child abuse in chats.
Mallinson was detained by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in January 2021 after detectives linked him to an internet persona used to convey encrypted communications regarding child abuse.
When NCA agents inspected his phone, they found 3,710 obscene photographs of children, including 199 in the most serious Category A. They also discovered 14 explicit sexual photos on his laptop.
