NATO is preparing to confront Russia with its largest force since the Cold War, deploying “far over” 300,000 soldiers
The largest force deployed by NATO since the Cold War, approximately 300,000 soldiers are expected to be sent into battle with Russia.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a non-NATO member, prompted a huge increase in “high readiness” forces.
At a briefing on Monday at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, Jens Stoltenberg said:
“All together, this is the most significant upgrade to our nation’s defence and deterrence since the end of the Cold War.
“We will restructure the NATO Response Force and more than double the size of our high readiness forces.”
The 30-member alliance is anticipated to view Russia as “the most significant and direct danger to our security,” Jens continued.
Putin might lash out at Nato, especially at former Soviet satellites Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
The head of NATO also announced the bolstering of units stationed in eight NATO nations in the east and southeast in an effort to prevent Russian aggression.
Battlegroups of 1,000 soldiers will become brigades, which are made up of 3,000–5,000 soldiers.
According to NATO diplomats, leaders will also reveal financial decisions, define a new force model, and talk about strengthening the alliance’s eastern flank. They will also issue a “Strategic Compact” that outlines NATO’s long-term objectives.
Currently, the NATO Response Force has about 40,000 troops, sailors, and pilots.
They are maintained at several levels of mobilisation readiness, ranging from two days to six months.
It follows The Sun’s story that NATO is preparing to build a new, 200,000-strong force to “wipe Russia off the earth” in the event that Putin invades one of its allies.
The new Allied Reaction Force (ARF) will be six times bigger than the NATO Response Force, the current force that is prepared to thwart Russian assault (NRF).
The political and military leaders of NATO have attempted to mobilise the alliance through the Russian assault.
When he just assumed command of the UK’s land forces, British general Sir Patrick Sanders issued a call to arms to troops to get ready to battle and defeat Russian forces in a Third World War.
And Russia has its own intentions, as evidenced by a Kremlin warship’s most recent “unacceptable provocation” in which it twice breached NATO territorial seas.
In the meantime, a Putin friend has warned that NATO is “playing with fire” by threatening to destroy Britain in a Third World War.
Buzhinsky’s unsettling words come as Lithuania – a Nato country – is restricting the movement of products out of Russian territory.
