Ukraine is expanding its grain shipments beyond its western borders by 50% per month to help combat the global food crisis brought on by Russia’s blockade of Ukrainian seaports. According to Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov of the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, this is the case.

According to the Infrastructure Ministry, efforts are being made every day to open land channels for agricultural exports, particularly through Ukraine’s western borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. This is despite the continuous blockade of Ukrainian seaports.

“We are doing everything possible and the dynamics are really positive at the moment. Every month, we raise the volume of grain exports across the western borders by almost 50%. Were it not for the fact that last year’s crops needed to be exported urgently, we could in a few months reach the normal average monthly volume that we had before through our ports,” the head of the department stressed.

As previously reported, more than 20 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain are still stranded in Ukrainian seaports as a result of the conflict. This volume included products that were destined for export under the UN World Food Program. As a result, a number of weak countries are currently threatened by starvation.
