Ukraine: ‘waiting for a decision’ on further Western weapons

Ukraine said it was outgunned and requested more military aid from Western partners to fend off Russia’s incursion ahead of a NATO meeting in Belgium to consider additional supplies.

According to presidential adviser Mykhaylo Podolyak, Ukrainian soldiers inquired when Western artillery would arrive on the frontlines, who added, “Brussels, we are waiting for a decision.”

As per Podolyak, the ratio of Russian to Ukrainian weaponry along the frontline was 10 to 1 in some regions.

“Daily, I receive a message from the defenders: ‘We are holding on, just say: when to expect the weapons?'”

NATO officials and representatives from friendly countries such as Finland, Sweden, and East Asian countries are expected to attend the conference in Brussels with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

This week, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg encouraged members to deliver more heavy weaponry to Ukraine.

The US and the UK have announced that they are supplying Kyiv with long-range precision artillery batteries, despite Kremlin concerns.

Ukraine has frequently requested greater assistance, as well as the expediting of consignments that have already been promised.
