In an effort to prosecute Russian President Vladimir Putin, the United States is strengthening its “unprecedented sanctions” and continuing to help Ukraine. This was stated in a statement released by the White House on Monday during the G7 summit.

According to the U.S. presidential administration, the country has united more than 30 friends and partners to put severe costs on Russia. The coalition led by the U.S. will also keep applying further pressure on Putin.

The statement claims that over the course of a few months, U.S. exports to Russia have plummeted by around 97%, including vital technology inputs Putin needs to keep his military operating. The number of commodities imported by Russia from around the world may decrease by 40%.

According to the statement, “Our measures will continue to deprive Putin’s military-industrial complex of essential components, stop the central bank’s foreign reserves from supporting a faltering economy, deny Putin the resources he needs to wage his war, and hold the kleptocracy accountable for its ill-gotten gains.” Additional actions will further cut off Russia from the global economy, the statement continued.
