On day 100 of Putin’s destructive invasion of Ukraine, 30k people have died, making it the worst military disaster in modern history

Despite the fact that VLADIMIR Putin’s murderous war in Ukraine has been raging for 100 days, analysts warn that Russia is running low on soldiers and cutting-edge military hardware.

On February 24, Putin’s forces invaded Ukraine, and in the weeks and months after the battle started, more Russian soldiers have killed than during the 10-year Soviet-Afghan War.

As Vlad’s soldiers sought to seize the strategically significant Hostomel Airfield on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv at the start of the battle, it was feared that Russia would quickly engulf Ukraine.

Despite the fact that President Zelensky uploaded a defiant video demonstrating his continued presence in the city, Russian paratroopers twice attempted to breach his property and assassinate him.

Early on, Putin’s forces tried to conquer Mariupol in order to create a land route between occupied Donetsk and the Crimean peninsula that had been annexed, but they ran into difficulties.

By the end of March, Russia had fundamentally changed its military approach, shifting its emphasis from Kyiv to the east of the nation.

Ukrainian forces found evidence of horrifying war crimes in nearby towns like Bucha and Irpin as the Russians retreated.

Fighting over incredibly small areas of land has dominated much of the past month, with Russian forces withdrawing from Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, but finally taking the besieged Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, where several hundred gallant soldiers had mounted a valiant final defence.

The war has now lasted 100 days, and one analyst has declared that it is in a “state of attrition.”

Swedish economist and Russia expert Anders Aslund stated in a statement to The Sun Online that the war had reached a standstill after 100 days.

“Ukraine has all the soldiers it could possibly need,” he continued. Up to a million men can be mobilised by it.

On the other hand, Russia is short on soldiers. Putin is unable to legally send in conscripts because this isn’t a war.

“Even if they are already sending in more troops, they avoid detection by designating them as contractor soldiers.

But there would be a huge backlash if Putin tried to amend the legislation and mandate conscription.

On the other side, Ukraine will soon run out of heavy artillery and ammunition.

Russian armament is stacked sky high. Although they have suffered heavy losses of armoured vehicles, tanks, and aircraft, this conflict is currently being fought with artillery.

Aslund, whose most recent book, Russia’s Crony Capitalism, was released in 2019, stated that Russian soldier casualties had decreased from around 1,000 per day in the early stages of the conflict to about 150 per day, while Ukrainian forces were now “taking a serious thrashing in Donbas.”

He emphasised that the US artillery’s entry into Ukraine will be a crucial turning point in the conflict for this reason.

“Russia uses T62 tanks that are more than 50 years old for military use since they are the only available options.

“The Russians have lots of old Soviet artillery that they can use which is imprecise but still very frightening.”
