Ukrainian nuclear weapons “might” be developed to thwart Putin’s plans

According to a war expert, Ukraine should start working on its own nuclear arsenal in order to stop the Russian invasion.
A Loughborough University expert has recommended Volodymyr Zelensky to either establish an arsenal or import weapons from other countries.
After four months of fighting, which included a relentless bombing of Ukrainian cities, hundreds of civilians and troops have died as a result of the ongoing confrontation with Russia.
In addition, it is now estimated that seven million people are internally displaced within the nation, and that about five million people have fled as refugees since the Russian invasion began in February.
Officials from the Ukrainian government claim that 1.3 million individuals, including 223,000 children, have been forcibly deported to Russia.
Vladimir Putin’s activities, according to Dr. Paul Maddrell, a lecturer in international history and international relations at Loughborough, are intended to split up Ukraine, weaken its armed forces, and stop NATO’s expansion.
And he believes the only way to stop Putin from continuing to work toward those objectives would be to build up Ukraine’s nuclear weapons.
Dr. Maddrell said the following on the Besieged: A podcast from Loughborough University regarding Putin’s invasion of Ukraine: “I’d seriously consider creating nuclear weapons if I were the president of Ukraine. When the Soviet Union fell apart in the 1990s, Ukraine had nuclear weapons.
“In order to denuclearize Europe and make it a safer place, Ukraine agreed to give up the nuclear weapons that had been on its territory since it became part of Ukraine. Putin would not have invaded because his nation would have been subject to a nuclear assault if it had retained its nuclear weapons.
Zelensky might believe that developing nuclear weapons is the only option if he is blocked from joining NATO, which he very well could.
The lecturer also stated that Putin’s actions in Ukraine had hurt Russia’s chances of becoming a satellite state of China and that the US would sell Ukraine nuclear weapons at a discount.
