North Korean leader Kim Jong Un received images of the White House, Pentagon, and U.S. aircraft carriers at the Norfolk naval base from the country’s recently launched spy satellite, as reported by state media KCNA on Tuesday.

In its inaugural reconnaissance satellite launch last week, North Korea aimed to monitor military activities of the United States and South Korea.

The released photos, part of a series capturing “major target regions,” included Seoul and U.S. military bases.

Kim examined satellite images of the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam and U.S. shipyards and air bases in Norfolk and Newport.

The imagery identified four nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and a British carrier. The United States and South Korea criticized the satellite launch, considering it a breach of UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting ballistic technology use.

South Korean officials questioned the verifiability of North Korea’s satellite capabilities, emphasizing the lack of released photos.
