The governor of the southern Ukrainian area announced on Sunday that a civilian was killed by debris from a downed drone in the Odesa region. The Ukrainian air force claimed to have destroyed 20 drones that Russia had launched over night.

Governor Oleh Kiper said on the messaging app Telegram that air defense systems shot down nine attack drones manufactured in Iran above Odesa, referring to it as the third Russian air strike on the area in the previous week.

Kiper stated, “However, one of the downed drones fell into a residential area in Odesa district and exploded,” causing damage to multiple residences and the subsequent discovery of a dead body in one of them.

In addition to the drones, the air force said that one of its defense systems also took down a cruise missile. It said that Russia had also fired an Iskander ballistic missile, which “did not reach” its objective, although it did not elaborate.

According to the air force, Russian aircraft were destroyed over the districts of Odesa, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnitskyi.
