Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv early on Wednesday morning, resulting in at least 45 injuries, damage to residences, and damage to a children’s hospital.

A sequence of loud explosions that occurred at 3 a.m. (01:00 GMT) startled people when air defense systems shot down several missiles that were headed toward the capital.

At least 45 people were hurt, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, when missile debris from the intercepted rockets landed on the eastern bank of the Dnipro river, which flows through the city. While the other eighteen individuals received treatment on the spot, two children and the other eighteen were transferred to the hospital.

In Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi District, windows and the entrance to a children’s hospital were shattered, and many automobiles, a private residence, and an apartment complex caught fire, according to Klitschko. The water supply system was also harmed by falling rocket debris.

The precise armaments that Russia employed in the assault were not immediately apparent.

A Russian missile strike on Monday damaged multiple houses outside of Kiev, wounding four people and knocking out power to over a hundred dwellings.

Attack occurred while Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, was in the US lobbying right-wing Republicans to support billions of dollars in fresh military funding for his nation.

In the event that the MPs rejected the aid, US President Joe Biden forewarned them that they would run the risk of offering Russia a “Christmas gift.”

Buildings in the Desnyanskyi and Darnytskyi areas of Kiev were also harmed by the most recent attack.

The majority of casualties, according to Serhiy Popko, chief of Kyiv’s military administration, were caused by windows that the explosion wave blew out.
