Mysterious drone attacks in Scandinavia: Sweden blames Russia for hybrid war tactics
Mysterious drone attacks have created tension in Scandinavia, with Sweden directly blaming Russia for hybrid war tactics. Since September 22, unknown drones have flown over airports and military sites in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, forcing the suspension of several flights and raising security concerns.
The situation became more alarming when Danish media reported that a Russian warship, Alexander Shabalin, turned off its tracking system and sailed within 12 kilometers of Denmark’s waters. Experts believe this could have been an observation mission or a distraction strategy.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed deep concern and accused Russia of carrying out these drone activities to intimidate countries supporting Ukraine. He announced that Sweden would send anti-drone systems and radars to Denmark to secure the upcoming European Union summit.
Denmark also called the incidents hybrid attacks, saying they were meant to spread fear and target critical infrastructure. Meanwhile, NATO increased its surveillance in the Baltic Sea to respond to any possible threats.
