After the ceasefire ended yesterday, the Israeli military reopened its violent campaign against Hamas in Gaza, claiming to have hit 400 “terror targets” around the region.
Fighter planes attacked locations in southern Gaza over night; this area is probably going to be the center of the Israeli offensive’s next phase. After escaping to the north, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge there.
The attacks focused on the vicinity of Khan Younis, where Israel thinks some Hamas officials may be hiding. According to the Israeli military, artillery and tank fire have also struck areas of northern Gaza where Israeli troops are conducting a ground attack.
There is still a humanitarian crisis throughout the region. Numerous civilian victims of the strikes, including many youngsters, are crammed into hospitals that are already on the edge of collapsing.
The Palestinian Red Crescent stated that it had no assurances that any supplies would be delivered today, and the UN said that no help had been transferred to Gaza from Egypt yesterday.
One of Israel’s principal allies, the US, has instructed Israeli officials to take additional steps to safeguard Gaza’s civilian populace. The takeaway has been that the Israeli military shouldn’t carry out its actions in the north.
Yesterday, flyers with a QR code that led to an internet map of Gaza divided into hundreds of blocks were left in several locations near Khan Younis to help Palestinians find their way. Many people in Gaza are unsure if the limited internet and energy will be sufficient.
