Israeli airstrikes kill four Syrian soldiers and wound one

Israeli air raids on Syria’s central and western areas killed four soldiers and wounded one, SANA reported.

Israeli jets flying over the Mediterranean hit Syrian military sites early Saturday, according to a military source.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attacks attacked weapons and ammunition depots in Homs and Hama.

Israeli forces hit a Syrian air defense system in Latakia, according to the Syrian Observatory.

Syria’s air defenses counterattacked, SANA said.

Israeli military hasn’t commented.

Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria in recent years, but rarely admits them.

Israel has admitted that it targets Iran-allied fighters like Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which has sent thousands of fighters to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

Israeli air raids killed two Syrian soldiers and wounded three near Homs on November 13.

According to the Syrian Observatory, an Israeli airstrike in October killed one Syrian army and three pro-Iranian rebels.

Syria’s war began in 2011 when the government forcefully responded to protests. Hundreds of thousands have died and half of the country’s 23 million pre-war population has been displaced.
