At the 24th Annual Jesse H. Jones Award Luncheon, prominent community activist and well-known volunteer Muhammad Saeed Sheikh was presented with the 2022 Global Leader of Influence Award by the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston.

He is the first South Asian Pakistani American to receive this prestigious recognition in honor of his global impact, exceptional leadership, and outstanding contributions to Houston’s international spirit over a 25-year period.

Over 800 influential leaders in business, education, finance, and world affairs, city officials, and more than 30 consul generals, including Abrar Hashmi of Pakistan and prominent businessman S. Javaid Anwar, attended this year’s annual event, which was the biggest one yet.

Congressman Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, was the keynote speaker. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee presented Sheikh with a special Congressional Recognition on this occasion and gave him high homage for his numerous community services.

Several government officials and community leaders, including Mayor Sylvester Turner, Congressman Al Green, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales, and others, joined in congratulating Sheikh on this noteworthy achievement and referring to him as an influential and well-known trailblazer in Houston.

A renowned volunteer and community organizer, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh. He is a founder member of the 2009-founded Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA).

He is currently the HKSCA’s president. He also oversees the Houston Iftar, an annual Ramadan dinner with the mayor of Houston, and the Alliance for Disaster Relief (AFDR).

In the past in recognition of his Community Services, President Donald Trump awarded him the “President’s Lifetime Achievement Award 2018”, a prestigious Civil Award, which is bestowed upon citizens for their contributions to the nation & for their outstanding volunteering services throughout their lifetime, which was presented by Award founder President George W. Bush. In 2020, for his outstanding work in response to COVID-19 he was recognized by Government of Pakistan on “Foreign Minister’s Honor List”, and in 2021, he also won the Sister Cities International “Volunteer of the Year Award”.

Muhammad Saeed Sheikh is a firm believer that teamwork is essential for any endeavor to succeed since it fosters “Blessings in Unity.” He is in charge of a number of projects and wants to keep helping the community.
