Australia won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in dominant fashion, defeating England by seven wickets in the final at Lord’s.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Australia restricted the hosts to 150-4.
Opener Beth Mooney, Australia’s all-time leading run-scorer in the format, once again starred with the bat, scoring 64 off 49 balls as Australia comfortably chased down the target, reaching 153-3 with 17 balls remaining.
Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield, who scored 48 off 35 balls, including two impressive sixes, one of them a stunning switch-hit, shared a 100-run partnership for the second wicket. They reached the milestone in just 66 balls, effectively ending England’s hopes of victory.
Australia captain Sophie Molineux was left in tears as she celebrated her first trophy as national captain, with Litchfield praising her inspiring and well-organized leadership.

“It’s gone to plan. We’ve been playing the way we wanted to play all tournament,” Litchfield said.
“Internally, we knew we were a bloody good side, and Sophie has done an incredible job, setting us up physically and mentally.”
Ellyse Perry, who passed a fitness test to take part in her seventh World Cup title in nine finals, remained unbeaten at the crease when Sophie Ecclestone bowled a wide that raced to the boundary for the winning runs.
“Today has been truly special,” Perry said.
“It has been a joy to be a part of this team with Sophie leading in her first World Cup. This has been a privilege of a lifetime.”

The victory ended a rare spell without a global title in either the 50-over or T20 format for Australia, which once again demonstrated its quality with disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and positive batting.
Australia’s win also improved its record to 7-0 against England in white-ball World Cup finals. It was also the first time England had lost a World Cup final on home soil.
This is Australia’s seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title out of the 10 that have been played.
