Denon and Marantz are offering a $600 upgrade to HDMI 2.1 for these older receivers.

Denon and Marantz integrated HDMI 2.1 to their receivers for the first time last year, and while it offered plenty of new features, there’s a bug with 120Hz/4K gameplay on Xbox Series X that requires some additional gear.

But what about those who have older receivers? If you already own a 2018 flagship model from the Sound United brands, they’re providing a factory-fitted update to include HDMI 2.1 (without the Xbox bug) for $600, according to Forbes and HD Guru.

Owners of the $4,000 Denon AVR-X8500H and $4,499 Marantz AV8805 may make use of “8K/60Hz upscaling and pass-through, 4K/120Hz pass-through, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, HDCP 2.3,” as well as other HDMI 2.1 functions like VRR, QFT, ALLM, etc.

If you’re in the market for a new high-end receiver, check for updated models with an A after the model number. The Denon AVR-X8500HA will cost $4,299 at retail, while the Marantz AV8805A will cost $4,799. Starting June 15th, you may upgrade to a Denon or Marantz system for $600.
