The UAE Emirates ID is a compulsory identity document for both UAE citizens and residents, including Pakistani nationals.
All individuals, whether citizens or residents, necessity get and keep an Emirates ID issued by the appropriate authorities, according to UAE law.
This card helps multiple functions, including access to government services and, for UAE citizens, acting as a travel document for movement within the GCC countries.
If someone doesn’t get their Emirates ID or doesn’t update it on time, they can face fines or other legal issues. You are allowed to apply for renewal up to 30 days before your ID expires, but if you delay it after that, late fees may apply.
To renew the Emirates ID, people can use the ICP website, the ICP mobile app on Google Play or the App Store, or they can go to any authorized typing center.
UAE residents should remember that they can only renew their Emirates ID after their residence visa has been renewed or reissued.
Documents Needed to Renew an Emirates ID
A valid passport.
A valid residence permit, a residence origin under renewal procedures, or a valid residence permit for those who did not present an identity card at the time of issuance.
A white individual of all ages.
Original birth certificate, a parent’s passport, or an Emirates ID for minors under 15.
November 2025 Emirates ID Card Renewal Fee Update
Depending on the chosen validity period, the Emirates ID renewal fee changes. The cost is AED 170 for a one-year renewal. The fee goes up to AED 340 for a two-year renewal and AED 510 for a three-year renewal.
