Expo Beats is almost ready to launch in Dubai

Dubai Expo

Expo Beats, a unique monthly event featuring musical masters and intriguing new artists, kicks off this Thursday, with World Beats running for three nights straight till Saturday.

The first edition of the music festival, which will take place at Jubilee Stage in the Sustainability District, will thrill the audience with sounds and dance recitals from all over the world, from Saudi Arabia to South Africa.

Bader Al Shuaibi, a Kuwaiti-Saudi musician who released his first album, Something Different, in 2019, is among the diverse line-up.

He recently worked with K-pop artist AleXa on a new tune, “Is It On,” as part of Spotify’s Radar programme. He is a lover of fresh, never-heard-before blends of cultures and sound.

Adonis, a four-piece Lebanese pop-rock band, is celebrating their ten-year anniversary this year, and their performance at Expo 2020 is the ideal way to honor the occasion.

Adonis has amassed a large audience throughout the world because of their easily accessible blend of melancholy and optimism, as well as their unique Arabic lyrics and blazing live performances.

Zanda Zakuza is a house and kwaito singer and songwriter from Durban, South Africa, who rose to prominence after appearing on Master KG’s Skeleton Move and Prince Kaybee’s Club Controller.

She’ll be performing at Expo Beats with the aforementioned artist and producer Master KG, where the two will light up the night with African electro magic.

Naked, a cutting-edge collaborative ensemble with distinct Balkan influences, is bringing its global urban grooves to Expo with an explosive performance featuring gypsy violins, be-bop rhythms, and urban wind instruments.

Shadi Megallaa, one of the early to mid-2000s pioneers of the Dubai electronic scene, continues to push limits in his music.

His most recent accomplishment was founding the Flip Side, an independent record shop in Dubai that serves as a nexus for the region’s music scene.

He shares his passion of vinyl with the globe at Expo Beats.

Sanam, one of India’s most popular pop-rock bands with over nine million YouTube subscribers, will take their audience on a nostalgic journey, vowing to get everyone to their feet with an upbeat sing-and-sway-along show.

Les Grands Hurleurs, who have captured the hearts of both Quebecois and worldwide audiences with their modernized, accessible traditional music, are currently performing their unique combination of folk, classical, and bluegrass to Expo’s varied crowds in advance of the release of their fifth album, Ellipse.

Damascus’ Sima Dance Company, the pioneer of contemporary dance in the Middle East, guarantees a vibrant performance.

The dancers have been professionally trained in Germany, Japan, South Africa, Syria, the UAE, the UK, and the US, allowing the company to benefit from various approaches to creative expression while formulating its own artistic voice.

The company was founded in Syria in 2003 by choreographer Alaa Krimed, who is known for his unique works in the region.

Step Afrika! a non-profit dance group committed to the African-American heritage of “stepping,” will join them on the bill, traveling nationally and internationally to give residencies and workshops as an instructional tool.

Expo Beats, a monthly celebration of color, creativity, and culture, welcomes the globe on an immersive journey of classic and modern sounds and rhythms in new and fascinating ways.
