The groom’s wedding party, according to the media, used Google Maps to get to the celebration venue. They were misled to a different site, so they didn’t see the wedding décor all around them.
While technological advancements have made our lives easier in most situations, total reliance on it has frequently resulted in unintended consequences. Like this groom’s family in Indonesia, who showed up at the wrong site on his wedding day! Reason? It was attributed to a Google Maps blunder.
The guests were greeted warmly by the hosts, who were even provided refreshments after their long travel. Fortunately, one of the bride’s family members spotted the error early and avoided an awkward scenario during a family chat.
The misunderstanding stemmed from the fact that two ceremonies — a wedding and an engagement – were held in the same village. The bride was originally oblivious of the scenario since she was busy getting ready with her make-up artist, as per the media.
The ceremony’s video went viral, showing the family exiting the venue in an uncomfortable situation with several gifts.
According to Kompas, the man’s wedding party used Google Maps to locate their way to his wedding venue in central Java’s Losari Hamlet of Pakis District. His family, however, showed up in Jengkol Hamlet, which is not far from Losari Hamlet, instead of their original address. The wedding took place in Ringinum Village, Kendal Regency, Central Java, at the home of bride Maria Ulfa and her future spouse Burhan Sidqi.
The video of the event went viral, showing the family departing the venue in an awkward scenario while carrying numerous gifts.
Ulfa told Malay Mail that her fiancé and his party were late because they had stopped seeking a bathroom, and this group had come in the meantime.
She explained, “I was shocked when I saw the man’s group as I did not know any of them,” adding that while her fiancé was from Kendal, the family who came to her house was from Pemalang. One of her uncles realized something was wrong because of the change in location.
According to Rojak, the group apologized and, with the aid of Ulfa’s family, located their genuine wedding site. Many people were puzzled how the man didn’t realize he was at the wrong house when the story went viral. People, on the other hand, feel relieved that everything worked out in the end.
