Google To Drop Support for Android 2.3.7 by September 27

Google To Drop Support for Android 2.3.7 by September 27

If your device is still running Android 2.3.7 (the final version of Gingerbread) or older, Google will not allow you to sign in on that device after September 27.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our users safe, Google will no longer allow sign-in on Android devices that run Android 2.3.7 or lower starting September 27, 2021,” the company says. “If you sign in to your device after September 27, you may get username or password errors when you try to use Google products and services like Gmail, YouTube, and Maps.”

Android 2.3.7 is Now Almost 10 Years Old

As there are still more than three billion people who are using old tech, this change will likely affect quite a few people.

If your device is still on Android 2.3.7 or older after September 27, you will be able to use some of the Google services if you are logged in on your device’s browser, Google claims.

However, devices running Android 3.0 will still be able to log in to their account, the company says. And if their devices can be upgraded to Android 3.0 from 2.3.7, they will also be able to log in.
