The introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled vehicles for driving tests is a major step in modernizing the driving license process, according to the Punjab Traffic Police.
The project seeks to improve the licensing system’s transparency and deal with corruption.
The provincial administration has already received a summary of the purchase of 32 AI-powered vehicles, according to traffic authorities. The cars will have sensors, cameras, and CPUs to track the test-taking procedure in real time.
The installation process for each of the 32 trucks is expected to cost about Rs 600,000, with a total projected cost of over Rs 160 million.
These AI vehicles will be installed across Lahore and other main cities, with two vehicles already tested on an trial basis. The system is planned to automate test results, making it incredible for unqualified candidates to get a license. Authorities wants the vehicles to be fully operative by December.
