At the age of 70, Jiveben Valabhair Rabari gave birth to her first child via IVF.

Jiveben Valabhai Rabari and her husband Valjibhai Rabari, who live in Gujarat, had a boy called Lalo last month.

Doctors had advised Rabari not to risk pregnancy at her age, but she was keen to start a family after 45 years of marriage.

“We first made her menstrual cycle regular by prescribing oral medicines. Then we widened her uterus which had shrunk owing to age. We fertilized her eggs and created blastocyst and transferred it to the uterus,” Dr Naresh Bhanushaili, Gynaecologist tells the media.

Doctors performed sonography two weeks following the IVF operation and discovered a growing baby.

They discovered the baby’s heartbeat and permitted Rabari to carry the pregnancy to term.

Because of Rabari’s age, doctors opted to perform a Caesarean section eight months into the pregnancy, although the mother and the baby are both stated to be well.
