Olivia Rodrigo is giving fans plenty to celebrate ahead of the release of her third studio album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love”.
The singer recently performed her song Drop Dead live for the first time during Spotify’s billions club live concert in Barcelona, this special event took place on May 8 at the famous Teatre Grec venue and attracted around 1,500 fans.
During the concert, Rodrigo performed some of her biggest hits, including Drivers license, Good 4 U, Vampire, Happier, Jealousy, Jealousy, Favorite Crime, and Get Him Back.
However, the biggest moment of the night came when she performed drop dead solo for the first time ever. Fans cheered as the singer danced across the stage while holding a bouquet during the emotional performance.
Spotify later released billions club live with Olivia Rodrigo. The concert film captured the full show and quickly gained attention online. Before the Barcelona concert, Rodrigo had only performed Drop Dead once during a surprise appearance with Addison Rae at Coachella in April.
The pair performed both Headphones On and Drop Dead together on stage. Rodrigo also surprised fans later that month with another performance of the song during an open mic night at Pete’s Candy Store in New York City.
The 23 year old singer is now preparing for the release of her new album on June 12 through Geffen Records. Earlier this week, Rodrigo revealed the full 13 song track list on Instagram.
She shared a photo of herself standing beside a park swing at night while the song titles appeared in pink embroidery style text. In the caption, she wrote, “Only 3 weeks till the album is yours!!! I can’t wait for you guys to hear these songs.”
The album is divided into two sections called “Girl So in Love” and “You Seem Pretty Sad.” Songs on the album include Drop Dead, Honeybee, Stupid Song, Purple, My Way, Expectations, Cigarette Smoke, and The Cure.
Fans quickly filled the comments section with excitement. Many said they were “claiming every track,” showing strong support for the full album instead of choosing only one favorite song.
Fans believe the upcoming project could become a “no skip album,” meaning every song is worth listening to. Rodrigo has already built a huge fan base and now has nine songs with more than one billion streams on Spotify. This makes her one of the youngest artists to achieve that milestone several times. Earlier this year, Rodrigo told British Vogue that writing happier songs for the new album was challenging for her.
She explained that many of her favorite love songs still include feelings of sadness, fear, or longing even when they are romantic. Fans are now eager to hear how those emotions shaped her latest music.
