Director Sarmad Khoosat’s film Kamli made Pakistan proud by having its European premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2023, after winning hearts in Pakistani cinemas.

The event was attended by Nimra Bucha and Sarmad Khoosat.

Kamli is a story about love, loss, and hidden secrets. This film is “a love letter to all the women out there,” as it depicts a woman’s struggle to defy societal norms and unspoken challenges.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, one of Pakistan’s most talented directors, directs it. Saba Qamar Zaman, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Omair Rana, and Hamaza Khawaja play the lead roles in the film.

The film directed by Khoosat was released in theatres on June 3, 2022. With its brilliant cinematography, mesmerising soundtrack, and symbolic storyline, the magical feminocentric romantic thriller Kamli wowed audiences and film critics alike.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is a director, actor, producer, and screenwriter who has directed some of Pakistan’s most acclaimed and popular television shows, including Humsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat.

In 2017, he starred in Manto, a feature film based on the life of writer Saadat Hasan Manto, which helped launch his career, and he received Pakistan’s Pride of Performance Award for his outstanding contribution to the country’s film and television industries.

Zindagi Tamasha, his directorial debut, was chosen as Pakistan’s entry for Best International Film at the Academy Awards.
