The Pentagon is trying to get guns, ammunition, and other security support for Ukraine:
According to a senior military official, the Pentagon is trying to get the $800 million in guns, ammunition. And other security support for Ukraine promised by US President Joe Biden yesterday into Ukraine as soon as feasible.
“We have no illusions about this thing’s magnitude and scope. They are, nonetheless, conscious of the time. We are well aware that time is not on our side”. And we’re going to do all we can to accelerate this, to move these shipments as quickly as possible,” the person said in an off-camera briefing. Adding, “We’re going to front-load them with the types of capabilities that we know the Ukrainians need the most.”
The latest arms shipment is the clearest indication yet that the battle in Ukraine is moving — and with it. The armaments Ukraine will need to keep stymieing a Russian military that has regrouped and resupplied after its first setbacks in the early weeks of the conflict.
However, the official stated that the materials will not be delivered in one shipment.
“A product of that size will require many delivery”. “I mean, to finish out the last $800 million, it required more than 20 separate shipments,” the person explained. “I can tell you that we’ll proceed with the same feeling of urgency as before.”
According to the US State Department, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dymtro Kuleba on Thursday to discuss the newest security aid package to Ukraine.
“They underlined that the United States’ and its Allies’ and partners’ consistent delivery of material has been critical in Ukraine’s effective struggle against Russia’s military. The Secretary of State presented an update on recent US and international efforts to hold Russia and its enablers responsible. In a statement, State Department spokeswoman Ned Price stated, “The Secretary admired the bravery of the Ukrainian people, particularly those defending Mariupol.”
