Efforts to rescue 41 workers trapped inside a tunnel in India’s Uttarakhand state have resumed after encountering a setback.
The workers have been stuck in the tunnel since 12 November due to a landslide. The rescue operation slowed down when a drilling machine faced difficulty cutting through a steel structure.
Officials hope to complete the rescue within the next 10-12 hours despite the delay. The workers have been supplied with oxygen, food, and water through a pipeline, and communication with them has been maintained.
Ambulances are on standby as authorities work to create a micro-tunnel for the workers’ safe extraction.
