After being identified as a rare item from 1902, a glass vase acquired for $4.99 at a thrift store in the Pacific Northwest is anticipated to sell for up to $15,000 at auction.
A unique Loetz Argus glass vase made by Austrian Kolomon Moser, a member of the Vienna Secession art movement, will be included in Heritage Auctions’ Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass: Including Art Nouveau & Art Deco auction on Oct. 28.
Consignment Director of Decorative Arts and Design for Heritage, Samantha Robinson tells the media, “The Loetz Argus glass vase is one of the finest examples of this rare and important model to come to market. It does so following its unlikely discovery in a thrift store in the Pacific Northwest by a shopper with an exceptionally discerning eye.”
When the vase is auctioned, it is estimated to earn between $10,000 and $15,000.
