Three more children died of malnutrition and epidemics in Sindh’s Tharparkar district.

According to the media report, the Health Department said that the number of children killed in Thar Parkar this month has risen to 49 while the number of children killed in Tharparkar this year has reached 361.

Also on Monday, 3 children died in Tharparkar while last week 6 children died due to malnutrition.

According to health department sources, in the first month of this year, 77 children died in January, 64 in February, 47in March, 19 in April and 63 in May.

Similarly, in 2018, 505 children died of starvation and disease. 445 children died in 2017, 490 in 2016, 395 in 2015, and 326 in 2014.

It may recalled that according to a survey released in 2019, 50% of children under the age of five in Sindh facing malnutrition.

According to the National Nutrition Survey Report 2018, published jointly by UNICEF and the British High Commission, 40% of children under the age of five in the province are underweight. At the same time, 40% of boys and girls in the province also suffer from anemia.
