Eid-ul-Adha 2020: Zilhajj moon not sighted, Eid-ul-Adha to be celebrated on Aug 1

Zilhajj moon has not been sighted today. Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on 1st August 2020 in Pakistan.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was gathered at Karachi’s Meteorological Department’s office to sight the moon of Zilhajj today. The meeting started at 6:00 pm.

The meeting was chaired by Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, with meetings of the zonal committees that took place at the headquarters of the provinces. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz had also joined the meeting.

The purpose of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting was to decide whether to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on 31st July or August 1st.

Earlier, Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had said that Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on July 31st “as per Ministry of Science and Technology ‘s calendar.”
