The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has cleared the licenses of 96 Pakistani pilots working for foreign airlines.

The process of verification of licenses of Pakistani pilots in foreign airlines is underway and Director General (DG) Civil Aviation Authority Hassan Nasir Jami has written a letter to the Oman Civil Aviation Authority.

According to the text of the letter, out of 104 pilots in foreign airlines, 96 have their licenses cleared while the verification of licenses of pilots working in 8 more foreign airlines is underway.

He said clear Pilots is affiliated with Hong Kong, UAE, Malaysia, Bahrain, Turkey, Vietnam and other airlines.

The DGCAA said in the letter that a total of 104 Pakistani pilots had sought license verification in foreign airlines.

The DG said that the licenses of all the pilots issued by the CAA are certified and genuine but there are some discrepancies in the computerized examinations of the licensing process.

According to the letter, the suspected pilots have been grounded in the computer exams and answers have been sought from the pilots in accordance with the 1994 CAA rules.

He said that news related to the license was misrepresented in the media and social media.

It may be recalled that the Ministry of Aviation had recently released a list of 262 suspicious pilots. In this regard, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan had said in the National Assembly that a list of 148 suspicious licenses had been sent to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). More than 100 other suspected licensed pilots have been barred from aviation, details of which have also been released on the Civil Aviation website.

Following this announcement, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bahrain and other countries grounded Pakistani pilots and the civil aviation of these countries has written a letter to the Pakistan Aviation Authority to confirm the pilot’s license.

In addition, the European Union and the United Kingdom have imposed a six-month ban on Pakistan International Airlines flights.

The United States has also banned PIA flights on the issue of fake licenses of Pakistani pilots.
