The National Assembly passed the Anti-Terrorism Amendment Bill and the United Nations Security Council Act, Amendment Bill.

The Speaker of the National Assembly called for a vote on two bills related to the FATF, the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2020 and the United Nations (Security Council) (Amendment) Bill 2020, which was passed by a majority.

Both the bills were introduced by Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Babar Awan, opposition members made noises and stood on the benches and Khawaja Asif reached Speaker Asad Qaiser.

The amendment proposed by PML-N member Rana Sanaullah was rejected by a majority vote and the clause-wise approval of the Anti-Terrorism Bill 2020 was completed.

The opposition demanded that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should be given a chance to speak first.

All the proposals of the opposition on both the bills were rejected and the bills were passed amidst a lot of noise.

Meanwhile, the opposition staged a fierce protest and tore up copies of the bill and blew it up. Speaker Asad Qaiser turned off the microphone of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) ‘s Asad Mahmood and started the legislative process.

Opposition and JUI members protested against the closure of Asad Mahmood’s microphone, while JUI members also surrounded the speaker’s dice.

Amidst the noise and protests of the opposition, the House passed the Anti-Terrorism Bill 2020 by a majority vote.

During the meeting, the National Assembly also passed the Security Council Act Amendment Bill 2020

Speaking in the National Assembly, the PML-N leader said that the Foreign Minister had given a long speech yesterday, now it was necessary to put our position before the people.

Later in the meeting, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervez Ashraf said that the only objective of the government was to amend the NAB law and save themselves. The people sitting on the government benches trying to prove that they are honest and the opposition members are corrupt.
