Poland’s incumbent president Andrzej Duda gains victory after the presidential election on Sunday, according to three exit polls.

Mr. Duda, an ally of the conservative government, gets 51% of the vote, a final exit poll showed on Monday.

He has won against the socially liberal Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski.

According to the first exit poll, Mr. Trzaskowski received 49.6% of the vote, pollster Ipsos said had a margin of error of two percentage points.

However, two further polls showed a wider margin between the pair.

A second poll, merging exit poll data with partial official results, showed that Mr. Duda received 50.8% of the vote, while a third showed 51% percent, with a margin of error of one percentage point.

Mr. Duda said after the announcement of the first exit poll, “I want to thank everyone that voted for me,”

He said to the media, “The result has probably never been so close in Polish history, we’ve never felt the power in our vote so much.”

He said that turnout was around 70%. Election officials confirmed that it would be a record high for a presidential election in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trzaskowski said that Polish voters would never have another opportunity to change Poland’s direction.

“All we need is to count the votes. The night will be tense but I am certain that when the votes are counted, we will win,”

Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) dominated Friday’s general election, but with a reduced majority.

According to the international news agency, The PAP, in power since 1965, won 83 of 93 parliamentary seats or 61.2% of the vote – down from nearly 70% it had in the 2015 poll.
