Following WhatsApp, Facebook has now limited the number of forwarded messages in Messenger to prevent rumours and misinformation from spreading.
It was announced in March this year and has now been implemented.
Facebook says that now a message can only be forwarded to 5 people or groups at a time.
According to the company, the ban will help slow down the spread of harmful content and misleading viral information.
In a blog post, Facebook said that they are introducing a message forward limit in Messenger to prevent the spread of harmful content.
A similar feature was introduced in the WhatsApp in April this year, under which users cannot forward a message more than 5 times.
Earlier, Facebook said that the number of forwarded messages in the world has decreased by 70% due to the limitation of the number of messages in WhatsApp.
According to the company, this new change in Messenger is very important at a time when the coronavirus epidemic continues around the world, while the United States, New Zealand and other countries are also holding elections.
The company recently said it had deleted 7 million posts from its platform based on misleading details about COVID-19.
