Telegram founder Pavel Durov tops the list of the richest persons in the UAE.

Eleven UAE residents have been included in the list of the world’s richest people in 2020 by an international news website Forbes.

According to Forbes’ list of billionaires, Parul Durov is the richest UAE resident having $17.2 billion (Dh63 billion) in 2021.

Sources said that Durov owns around 40 percent of all of the UAE billionaires’ wealth. He is the first UAE resident to be ranked among the top 200 billionaires.

Durov’s wealth increased when people switched to Telegram from WhatsApp after WhatsApp had announced its new privacy policy this year. His wealth increased by over 405 percent in a year from $3.4 billion in 2020 to $17.2 billion in 2021.

On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani becomes the richest person in India with a net worth of $84.5 billion. He is followed by Adani Group chief Gautam Adani.
