Pakistan has decided to seek United Nations probe into India’s use of Israeli spyware against the country’s top officials.

The decision was announced by Advisor to Prime Minister Shahzad Akbar and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain during a press briefing in Islamabad on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, Akbar urged UN to investigate whether India used spyware to target public figures including Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“According to the investigation of France-based international media and Amnesty International, Prime Minister Imran Khan is on a list of those people for whom this spyware was used by India,” SAPM said.

Terming it an attack on the national security and sovereignty of Pakistan, Akbar said this act was a clear breach of global norms of responsible state behaviour.

“In view of the gravity of international reports on the matter, we call on the relevant UN bodies to thoroughly investigate the matter, bring the facts to light, and hold the Indian perpetrators to account,” he added.

Akbar further said that Pakistan will also investigate the matter formally through its inter agencies, utilising services of the Foreign Office and FIA.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan wants a peaceful, all-inclusive government in Afghanistan.

Speaking about the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Afghan politician Hamdullah Mohib, Fawad said that it proved that the Sharif family had ties with enemies of the state.

He said Hamdullah Mohib has been using foul language against Pakistan since May forcing Islamabad to suspend its link with Afghan National Security Adviser’s office.

“People like Hamdullah Mohib have no link with Afghanistan because their families are not living there,” he said.

“Pakistan stands with its Afghan brethren and for which it has also rendered many sacrifices for Afghan refugees,” Fawad added.

He further stressed that Pakistan provided Afghan refugees an opportunity to spend dignified lives.

Condemning Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with Hamdullah Mohib, the minister urged PML-N leadership to make the audio of this meeting public if they are sincere with the country.

“We tried our best to improve our relationship with India for the economic development of the region but India’s RSS extremist ideology became a major hurdle in the way to peace and became a major threat to our security doctrine,” he concluded.
