Abdul Qayyum Niazi has been elected the 13th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

According to details, Abdul Qayyum Niazi got 33 votes in the newly formed Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while the joint opposition candidate Chaudhry Latif Akbar got 15 votes.

After his winning, he thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan and the members of the Assembly of Kashmir for showing trust in him and choosing him for the Premiership of Azad Kashmir.

“I belong to a very backward area which is near the Line of Control and no one knows the atrocities of India better than me,” he added.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Abdul Qayyum Niazi as its candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

According to details, Abdul Qayyum Niazi won from LA-18 Abbaspur. He belongs to the Poonch district of Abbas tehsil.

Prior to this, Abdul Qayyum Niazi has also served as the food minister.

In addition, Abdul Qayyum Niazi left the Muslim Conference platform in 2006 and left the Muslim Conference two years ago to join the PTI.

In this regard, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said in his Twitter message that after a long consultation and review of suggestions, the Prime Minister has nominated Abdul Qayyum Niazi, for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

Fawad Chaudhry added in his message on social networking site Twitter that Qayyum Niazi is a dynamic and genuine politician.

It may be recalled that 27 votes are required to form a government in the 53-member House. After winning three more seats, PTI is going to form a government with a clear majority of 32 seats.

In the 53-member House, PTI has 32 seats, PPP 12 and PML-N 7, while Jammu and Kashmir PPP and Muslim Conference have one seat each.
