Here’s the fact that no one can deny:  Cruella de Vil is the most fashionable Disney villain of all time. Unapologetically, fierce and donning notoriously fashionable outfits, Cruella is a dream come true for fashion lovers. In 101 Dalmatians, she was just a glamorous puppy-killer but in Disney’s latest live-action film, “Cruella,” she is the true fashion killer with the 70s London punk rock scene.

With Emma Stone starring as the titular character, the live-action was widely lauded for its iconic costume designing. Two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer, Jenny Beavan was the intellect behind the jaw-dropping graphic sartorial costumes. With a bundle of striking looks to choose from, here are our top 5 picks of Cruella’s best looks from the film.

1) ‘The DE VIL’ Red Dress

Inspired by Charles James’ ‘Tree’ dress, this flirty red dress perhaps stole the whole show. In the film, Cruella takes a crimson gown of her arch-nemesis (The Baroness played by Emma Thompson) and reconstructs it into a completely different dress with bold punk cuts and pulls the look together with long red gloves and a funky black eye mask. One of the favorite looks of the designer herself, the sculpted number is a piece de resistance of the movie.

2) ‘The Future’ Motorcycle Look

Channelling a Biker chic vibe, the sassy icon upstages the Baroness with an unforgettable entrance. Showcasing punk appearance at its best, she appears in sequin-embellished gold pants and a leather motorcycle-style jacket with sculpted shoulders. While the whole look is about making a rebellious statement, “The Future” written in challenging graffiti across her face nods to her unruly side. Her biker look was breathtaking for us.

3) ‘Sustainable Headlines’ Garbage Look

How can we forget the scene when the iconic fashion rebel emerged out of the clutter of garbage? Wearing Marie Antoinette-style pouffe hairstyle and glittering makeup, the fashionista crashed another Baroness event in a 40-foot long train dress. The classy ball gown was crafted from pastel-toned pieces of fabric and recycled gossip and tabloid stories about herself. Needless to say, it was a true costuming-defined moment in the history of movies. The message was simple: She can take nothing and turn it into something fabulous!

4) ‘The Red Queen’ Imperial Look

Consisting of 5,070 individual petals and 393 meters of organza, the dramatic dress screamed sheer madness within its core. The infamous villain makes a bold statement as she takes away the spotlight from the Baroness with an oversize train dress that practically covers her car and a two-toned crown. The look featured a military jacket with epaulettes, combat boots and a massive skirt with hand-sewn petals. This gloriously over-the-top look featured a perfect blend of regal style and the movie’s punk-rock influence.

Fun fact: It took an army of students, interns and masters to do the embroidery!

5)  ‘The Dalmation Moment’ Look

With this look, Beavan pays homage to the 1996 version of Cruella played by the incredibly talented Glenn Close.  This character-defining look showcased the diva wearing a black-and-white, broad-collared fur coat with front buckles and an asymmetrical skirt. Featuring inspo from the punk-rock revolution in ‘70s London, this look effortlessly reinforces her identity as the classic villain. The Dalmatian spots on the coat sure made us gasp, but don’t worry no Dalmatian was harmed in the making of the film.
