A basketball game at a New York gym set a Guinness World Record when the game time surpassed 120 hours and 2 minutes.

The Revelas Family Foundation’s Nick Revelas organized a group of players from New York and Canada to compete in the world’s longest basketball game at Nardin Academy in Buffalo.

The event was held in memory of Devin Waring, a close friend who died by suicide in 2017. The attempt at a record was to raise awareness of mental health issues.

Revelas explained that the record attempt was inspired by a series of community basketball games he has been arranging in recent years.

He told Guinness, “It was kind of a fun way for our neighbors to get together in the driveway.”

“And then, over the years, it’s kind of become this massive fundraiser, not just to raise money for mental health, but also awareness.”

The game lasted long enough to set a record for the longest basketball marathon.
