Bid to illegally transport sugar foiled

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Department on Monday intercepted a vehicle illegally transporting huge quantities of sugar to Quetta, a statement said.

The Food Department foiled the bid to transport 900 maunds of sugar to Quetta from JDW Sugar Mills (Unit-1) Rahim Yar Khan, it added.

On a tip off by the special branch, a team comprising food department and police officials caught the vehicle TKK-686 at a toll plaza near Chachran Sharif.

An interrogation is progressing from the arrested truck driver, Ismail, resident of Takhatani bypass, Quetta.
