Facebook’s messaging app, Messenger is about to add augmented reality (AR) experiences to its video conferences.
The Group Effects feature is all set to add life to boring video conferences. From a group of 70 Group Effects, users can easily put on any filter of their choice.
To apply the Group Effects, a member is supposed to start a video call, then tap the smiley face to apply the Group Filters from a list of 70 effects. Just as you pick out an effect, it will be applied to every member in the video chat room.
“Group Effects provide a more engaging and interactive way to connect with your friends. They also support the creator community and give people more ways to express themselves,” the company wrote in a blog post.
The AR feature was made part of the list of Messenger tools at the time Facebook began investing most of its attention building ‘metaverse’ while continuing to answer the raising questions regarding its ongoing Frances Haugen controversy.
