The social media leader, Facebook has decided to rename the company to get a better focus on building ‘metaverse’, according to a report by The Verge.

The tech giant’s founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg will make an announcement in the annual conference Connect on 28th of October. Facebook is also aiming to put on board around 10,000 employees in Europe to help metaverse grow.

The company however, has thousands of employees working on its consumer hardware already. A few months back the company’s founder stated “we will effectively transition from people seeing us as primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company”.

The hearsay regarding the name change became viral when Facebook and companies received intense flak right after certain documents were leaked through a former employee Frances Haugen, about company’s weak supervision of ‘Facebook reports’ and Instagram’s grave consequences on teens’ mental health.
